Herbal medicine is my passion, and has been for over 20 years. Through professional training, work and travel I have explored the practice of being a herbalist in my kitchen, on site, within the NHS and varied clinical settings, apothecaries, dispensaries, at Whipps Cross NHS dermatology department & in the fields, festivals, forests and occasional jungle.
I would like to share the herbal knowledge and experience that I have gained and continue to develop to be effectively incorporated into daily life.
I'd also like to encourage that in you.
Hedonic Herbs is run by herbalist Nicola Bradshaw.
She creates vibrant, seasonal herbal remedies using organic ingredients to support health. Hedonic Herbs aims to creatively educate on all aspects & practice of herbal medicine via community workshops and herbal art projects. Nicola also offers consultancy skills to businesses and community projects along with one to one consultations. Collaborations with herbalists, artists and community projects are at the base of Hedonic Herbs work.
Herbal workshops that I offer cover herbal aphrodisiacs, making herbal tinctures & balms, hedonic herbs for night time adventures, herbcraft for children and young people's health and existing wealth along with the philosophy of herbal medicine are amongst some of the subjects that I explore.
As well as making and creating my own range of tinctures and remedies, I run the herbal tincture unit at Neal's Yard Remedies head office which is situated on 5 acres of Soil Association certified land where fresh herbs are grown. These are transformed into herbal tinctures for use in health and beauty products and in Neals's Yard Remedies herbal dispensaries. As part of my role I work out formulas, help write & research herbal documentation, legislation & support new product development.
Before herbal medicine I trained in Psychology and worked specialising in addiction and harm reduction with sex workers, adults and vulnerable young people which was the making of me - I learnt so much from everyone I worked with. This was when I really began to comprehend the capacity of control we have over our own physical and mental health and how to optimize that no matter how small it may be. After working for a harm reduction project in Manchester for several years, I took a sabbatical in Peru working on a herbal medicine project and in Cuba with sex workers using a harm reduction approach towards health and wellbeing, I decided to train in Western Herbal Medicine at University of East London. The combination of Psychology and Herbal Medicine helped me to find a more rounded approach to physical health & emotional wealth through herbs and other autonomous practices. Community herbal medicine and health psychology is still my main focus.
Health in its many forms is a right for everyone.
Mental, Emotional & Physical Health is an individual & community responsibility.
